About Dr Theresha

About Practitioner:

Dr Theresha Liyanage is a registered Ayurveda Practitioner in Australia Australasian Association of Ayurveda – (AAA) with over a decade of experience in holistic health and traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Currently practicing at VediqRoots Ayurveda Clinic, Melbourne, she provides compassionate, personalised care, blending classical Ayurveda with public health insights to support physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

Theresha’s approach is deeply rooted in authentic Ayurvedic principles while being mindful of the multicultural and evidence-based healthcare environment of Australia.

Education:

Theresha completed her training in the traditional home of Ayurveda, Sri Lanka. She earned her Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo. To expand her practical skills, she undertook internships at several government-run Ayurvedic hospitals across Sri Lanka.

She holds a Diploma in Panchakarma Therapy from Dhee Ayurved, Sri Lanka. Her further studies include a Diploma in Ayurveda Beauty Therapy and a Certificate in Ayurveda Beauty Product Manufacturing from IICA Sri Lanka.

To enhance her public health perspective, Theresha completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) at CQ University, Melbourne Campus, Australia, broadening her ability to integrate Ayurveda into a multicultural and evidence-based healthcare environment.

Experience:

Theresha has worked across clinical practice, education, and health leadership. She is currently practicing as an Ayurvedic Practitioner at VediqRoots Ayurveda Clinic, Melbourne.

She served as the Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Sahanseth Ayurveda Medical Centre in Sri Lanka. Her teaching career includes a position as Lecturer at the International Institute of Ceylon Ayurveda (IICA), where she contributed to Ayurvedic education and training.

As part of her early medical training, she completed internships at prestigious institutions, including the National Ayurveda Teaching Hospital, Bandaranayake Memorial Ayurvedic Research Institute, and Molligoda Ayurveda Hospital in Sri Lanka.
